Requirements

To work as a dental assistant in Utah there are no educational requirements, other than obligation to have Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification and a current CPR certification.

In order to improve access to higher paying jobs, and to increase options for working in other states, further education such as attending a CODA-accredited dental assisting program, or taking the national DANB Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification is extremely helpful. These programs will set you on course in the application of best practice.

For further information, contact the Utah Dentist and Dental Hygiene Licensing Board.
